NIGERIAN BAR JOURNAL--GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTORS

The Nigerian Bar Journal is a peer reviewed Journal published twice a year by the Nigerian Bar Association. It provides a forum for scholarly discourse and exchange on a wide range of legal subjects.

Original  contributions are invited from academics and practitioners on all aspects of law.

The Editorial Board will consider articles, commentaries, case reviews, book reviews and statute reviews.

PRESENTATION

Manuscripts are to be submitted in Microsoft word (2007) double line spacing including (notes and references). The pages should be numbered consecutively. The first page should bear the title, abstract, name(s) of author(s), their affiliation and a full address for correspondence including email and telephone numbers.

The abstract should not be more than 250 words. Manuscripts are to be written in British English (spelling and terminology); Footnotes (not endnotes) are to be used. These should be numbered consecutively at the bottom of each page and should be in complete alignment with their numbering in the text.

Cross references are to be set out in the footnotes and not in the text.

Quotations of more than 45 words should be properly set out by using a smaller font (type face) or by increasing the left side margin of the page.

Direct quotations should be identified by double quotation marks while quotes should have single quotation marks.

Full articles should not normally exceed 25____ pages. Book reviews should not exceed 10___ pages. Case notes and statute reviews should not exceed 10____ pages.

 

CONFIRMATION OF ORIGINALITY

All intending contributors to the Nigerian Bar Journal are requested to forward a letter (in hard copy)  signed by them, confirming that the article they have submitted for publication-:

  1. Is the original work of the contributor submitting it ;
  2. Has not been published elsewhere.

This is required before processing of the article can begin.
